The real 4th of July!

Well, today is the real 4th of July, and it's 3:00 in the afternoon. Carol Ann Croft - who I told you about yesterday, has been here until now helping me clean the basement. We made a lot of progress and she was tired, so has now gone home. That is Carol Ann in the photo.

I'm wrapping up, too, as I am going to see Les Miserables at Washington Clay High School with a girl friend. The play starts at 7:00, and she's fixing dinner for me at 5:00, so I don't have much time left to mess around, but I thought I'd send you a post and ask you how you have spent the most patriotic day of the year.

Love you,
Gram

4th of July - 2008

It's the 4th of July 2008 - and I'm doing something very un-patriotic. I'm cleaning my basement. My neighbor, Carol Ann Croft, has been helping me with it for the last 6 Fridays in a row.

Inspired by the new front door which I had installed last summer, we've done a lot. We've painted the back door, the chimney, some of the inside window sills, and most of all, we have scanned a ton of old pictures. I'll do something with them later.

Last but not least, I had a new garden window installed in the kitchen. This will be great next winter when my garden is no longer growing.

Marilyn and Ben are coming next week, so hopefully we will be able to do something fun. I've been working too hard for too long.

Ok - Eric. Tell me what you have been doing.

This is all very new for me - posting to a blog.

I got started doing because of my daughter - who is taking a creative writing class.

It is part of their assignment. In a way - it reminds me of an assignment I had in a counseling class - years ago - to keep a diary. This is so much more efficient. The only thing I remember about keeping that diary is that I wanted it to be recorded in a beautiful book - and I did much of the posting in calligraphy. I couldn't have concentrated much on what I said with that as my main focus, so maybe this time - I'll be more relevant to what is going on in my soul.

In any case - thank you Charm for getting me started.
